The 2008 Mercury Mountaineer is a carry over of the previous year model. The 2008 Mercury Mountaineer is a 4-door mid sized SUV that is available in two distinct trim levels- Premium and Base.
There are two different engine configurations for the 2008 Mercury Mountaineer. The 4X2 Base 4.0L is equipped with a standard 4.0-liter, V6, 210-horsepower engine with a 5-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard. The AWD Premier 4.6L is equipped with a standard 4.6-liter, V8, 292-horsepower engine and a 6-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard. The 5-speed automatic transmission provides good performance but in any case if you want to enhance your driving experience you can upgrade to 6-speed automatic transmission.
The combination of V-8 and 6-speed automatic transmission offers brilliant performance and shift quality to the 2008 Mercury Mountaineer. Moreover the V8 engine uses single overhead camshafts, three valves per cylinder, variable valve timing and advanced electronics to generate major amounts of motivation. The six-speed automatic transmission gives support to the engine to give a controlled ride experience. The transmission is smooth and gentle combining the better performance of a manual transmission and carefree driving of an automatic. The latest Mercury Mountaineer tracks relatively well on level and straight roads and also riding in corners. The all-wheel drive is quite competent in snow and rain.
